STARS Project is a youth arts education program that works to address the race and income-based opportunity gap in access to Arts Education. Through participation in our arts integration, out-of-school arts and teen leadership programs youth experience the transformative power of creativity in the field of fine arts, music, dance, and acting, by empowering aspiring artists and under-served youth.
STARS provide support in the fields of fine arts and music by empowering aspiring artists and under-served youth to pursue, develop and realize their talents and goals. Whether it's music, dance, theatre, film, or visual arts, the arts teach and inspire.
Summer Theatre Experience
for 6th-12th grade students (Spring 2019)
A comprehensive theatre experience focused on developing all aspects (script, set, costumes, music, etc.) of a creative, original stage production. Everyone is a star at Rising Stars, on stage or off, because each person’s light is needed for our final production to develop and succeed. No experience needed! We welcome kids who like to act, sing, play music, write stories, write songs, build things, draw, paint, create things, or just have fun and help out! We will encourage each participant to find and develop their talents; to discover and honor the unique and wonderful person they are; to be no one but themselves
STARS - March 16, 2019 to May 18, 2019
School of Theatre Training is a comprehensive 8-week program for studying the skills and techniques of acting and musical theatre. Class offerings vary at every age level, guaranteeing there is an entry point for your student in the progression of classes.
Our curriculum is structured around the Stanislavski System, a method of performing truthfully onstage through a created set of imaginary circumstances. Telling an authentic story is part of our mission, and our teaching artists provide the tools to tell that story and meet the students “right where they are” in their development.
For students who have completed a Core class. They explore specialized concentrations in areas of acting and musical theatre that vary from year to year. These classes offer continued enrichment for the young performer, and students may spend multiple years at this stage before advancing to Conservatory classes.

- Scripts, Scenes, and In-Between (Acting): Explore how actors take the words on the page and bring them to life. Students analyze scripts, finding clues in the text to develop characters and staging scenes for performance.
- Puppetry & Performance (Acting): From Lion King to War Horse, more productions are relying on puppetry to tell their stories. Come learn foundational techniques in puppet manipulation to develop your physicality.
- Pop Musical Audition (Musical Theatre): More Broadway productions are depending on a “pop” sound in their scoring. “Pop” songs often fall in the genre of contemporary music because it’s the melting pot of modern sound, reflective of what’s popular with listeners today. In this class, students may learn songs from hits like Hamilton, Mean Girls or Dear Evan Hansen. More importantly, this class develops individual technique in a healthy, safe way.
- The Broadway Intensive (Musical Theatre): Broadway has a vast collection of songs and styles. Students explore the challenges through vocal performance and choreography with a focus on ensemble work.
